Yes, it all started with a movie. Usually, I read a book and love it; several years later the movie based on that book comes out; I get excited and go see the movie and leave the movie theater disappointed; usually slightly disappointed, and sometimes suffering a HUGE shock and sadness about the ideas and story being totally slaughtered.
So this was new for me, movie first, book (or books), second. I loved the movie. As of right now, it's my daughters favorite movie. But the book is EVEN BETTER! Not only better, but very different! Once I read the first book, The Lightening Thief, I couldn't stop. In less than a week I had read the series. Addicted you say? Well, if so, I'm looking for my next high from the book "Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Demigod Files." I know, I know, I have a problem.
What I liked best: Rick Riordan's sense of humor, making mythology current, and his characters - my favorites:
Percy Jackson, Grover, Dionysus, the God of Wine, Hades, Apollo, Mrs. O'Leary, Hermes, Tyson, Blackjack.
